Socialyte Labs Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Socialyte mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. We are committed to protecting your privacy, especially for younger users.

- Profile information (name, bio, profile picture, voice bio)

- Content you create (videos, comments, reactions)

- Video performance data (loading times, buffering, playback quality, completion rates)
2.3 Location Information
We may collect location information if you choose to share it or if it is embedded in content you upload.
2.4 Local Storage & Caching
We temporarily store videos on your device to improve playback speed and enable offline viewing. Cache is encrypted, automatically managed, and can be cleared in app settings.
3. Special Protections for Minors
COPPA compliance: Users under 13 cannot create accounts.
Enhanced privacy for teens (13–17):
- Accounts are automatically set to private and cannot be made public until age 18
- Limited data sharing with third parties
- Enhanced parental notification rights
- Stricter content moderation and safety measures
- No targeted advertising based on personal interests
We require users to provide their birth date for age verification. Providing false age information violates our Terms of Service and may result in account termination.

- With service providers who assist our operations (AWS, Backblaze B2, Stripe, analytics, push notifications) under strict confidentiality

- With CDN providers for content delivery optimization

- To protect our rights, property, or safety and that of our users
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
Special rules for minors: No sharing of personal information of users under 18 for marketing purposes.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. Video cache is encrypted and automatically expires. Network performance data may be anonymized for analytics. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
7. Data Retention
- Video cache: Cleared after approximately 7 days or when storage is full
- Performance metrics: Retained up to 90 days for optimization
- Account data: Retained until account deletion, except where law requires longer retention
8. Your Privacy Rights
All users may:
- Access your personal information
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated data
- Download your data
- Clear video cache through app settings
- Opt out of certain communications

9. Parental Rights
Parents or guardians of users under 18 may:

- Request deletion of their child's account

10. Payments and Stripe
When you tip creators or subscribe to the Creator Plan, payment data is processed by Stripe. We receive limited transaction metadata (amount, status, last four digits where applicable) but do not store full card numbers on our servers.
11. Referrals and Invite Links
If you open an invite link or enter a referral code, we store the code and related click identifier to attribute signups and verified watch time. Referral data is used only for the referral program and fraud prevention.
12. Automated Processing
We use automated tools to label videos, rank your feed, and detect policy violations. You may contact us to request information about significant automated decisions where required by applicable law.
13. Third-Party Services
Our App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. Service providers may include AWS, Backblaze B2, Stripe, Sentry, Amplitude, and CDN providers.
14. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers, especially for data of minors.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. For users under 18, we may also notify parents or guardians of significant changes.

We take age verification seriously and implement measures to verify user ages. However, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of user-provided information. We disclaim liability for consequences arising from users misrepresenting their age. Users who provide false age information assume all responsibility for their actions.
